We provide Mediation Services for family law and probate cases.
Reaching an agreement isn’t always a SNAP but scheduling mediation should be.
WHY MEDIATION?
Mediation can help move a case forward if you’ve hit a brick wall in negotiations, want to avoid risking your worst day in court, or are tired of getting nowhere in what feels like a game.
Mediation provides a chance for parties to tailor their own agreement with solutions outside the box.
Many Courts require mediation before temporary orders and/or before final hearing on the merits.
Our Services
Drive by Mediation (1 hour)
Parties may have worked out an agreement addressing all of the issues in their case. In this situation, a mediated settlement agreement (MSA) makes the agreement binding. If parties are representing themselves, the agreement becomes binding once the MSA is signed.
2 Hour Mediation
A shorter mediation is appropriate if parties have reached an agreement but still need to sort out one or two issues. Another example would be if the parties only need to handle a few assets in a divorce as opposed to addressing issues involving complicated property and/or children.
Full Day and 1/2 Day
Longer mediations are oftennecessary to accommodate divorces involving property and children. A 1/2 day should be enough time if the parties have already exchanged initial offers and completed some discovery. It may be the parties have agreed on some of the specifics but need mediation to layout the greater details or come up with some more creative options.
In cases where there has been no discovery, the parties are far apart on major issues or both property and custody issues need to be addressed, a full day of mediation would be more appropriate.
Mediation for Parties Representing Themselves
We will mediate with parties who are representing themselves, also known as “Pro Se.” We can then refer parties to an attorney who can “paper” the divorce or custody case or you can select your own counsel.
Please note that an attorney can only represent one party while the other would represent themselves. Snap Mediation can provide mediation and refer parties to other resources but cannot represent either party. Should either or both parties decide they would prefer to be represented by an attorney, we can refer you to attorneys to complete the case.
